Make hay while the sun shines!

Every summer just after seeding of the grain crops has finished, the hay making equipment is pulled out of the machine shed from winter storage.  The hay making equipment is given a once over in preparation for the task ahead; bearings are greased, tire pressures checked, chains replaced and belts tightened.

This time of year is my most favorite time on the farm; like an  official start to the begining of summer, the warm fresh air and sweet smell of freshly cut alfalfa hay refresh one's senses!

The hay is cut and allowed to dry, raked, baled and hauled home for winter feed for the sheep; all the while hoping that a rain cloud doesn't decide to appear and spoil the hay crop!
